each of us have presuppostions to truth that influence what we are willing to believe or accept as truth. These presuppostions come from personality, culture, religion, heritage, education, past experiences and numerous other influences. This is why two people can witness the same event and describe very different accounts of that event whether the event is a political debate, a football game or reading a passage from the bible.

knowledge is a double edged sword. It can be used to build up or tear down, to increase good or promote bad and false knowledge can be exchanged for true knowledge. False knowledge is that which generally has a measure of truth that is distorted for personal benefit and often used to rob or oppress others. The bible teaches that most people exchange genuine knowledge or truth for what they want truth to be either subconsciously due to presuppositions to truth or for some form of personal benefit-- romans 1:18 "for the wrath of god is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness... By their unrighteousness suppress the truth..." and verse 25 "...
